1/8/22: This past week, dozens of parents and leaders from around the state gathered in Springfield on the eve of the DeVore parent TRO case hearing. We shared stories of how being denied due process by our school districts and the state has affected our families and children. We shared fellowship and laughs before attending the court hearing the next day. The courtroom in Sangamon County was PACKED with dozens of parent plaintiffs (overflow had to watch via online stream outside the courtroom or from home) and no fewer than 20 defendant attorneys.

Listen to a message from Awake Illinois Director Steve Lucie (and We Stand For Students leader) below where he discusses a call to action for school boards and administrators. Based on the remarks from school board attorneys in the courtroom, this is an opportunity for communities to be better represented by those who are elected to serve them.
The next court hearing is Thursday, January 20th at 9:30am in Sangamon County.
12/31/21: The IEA request to intervene in the DeVore parent lawsuit was DENIED by Judge Grishow yesterday. Their desperate propaganda attempt failed to discredit parents, Attorney Tom DeVore, and Awake IL. This is a victory for due process and a great way to end 2021! Stay tuned for updates as the case is heard next week in Sangamon County.
11/22/21: Many of the Awake Illinois community are plaintiffs and/or supporters of this unprecedented lawsuit against 145 school districts and the state of Illinois. As we enter into the Thanksgiving holiday, we want to say "thank you" to all advocates who support parental and constitutional rights in Illinois. UPDATE 11/1/21: Governor Pritzker lawyers ask to move lawsuit to either Chicago or Springfield AFTER Attorney General agreed to MaCoupin county, IL.
This latest request will delay the hearing by perhaps 2 weeks. Stay tuned!

Governor Pritzker faced loud protests at an event this morning. They chanted "Fire Pritzker" during the entire event but refrained during the Pledge of Allegiance.
