Feb. 10, 2022 UPDATE:
High school teens are taking peaceful stands at schools across the state in districts that haven't yet admitted their unlawful mask required/quarantine without due process. Each day this week, more schools are prudently deciding to abide by the LAW. Pressure is working. In solidarity with all communities that are advocating for mask choice and due process for ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF, please see this statewide effort promoted by multiple advocate groups. Gather at your district headquarters to either thank or encourage your School Board on the decision to allow students to Show Their Smiles.

This afternoon, Governor Pritzker made an announcement that he will lift Illinois' indoor mask mandate, with the exception of in schools, by Feb. 28 if state COVID metrics continue to decline. He has revved up his disgust for the law, the judicial system, and even Judge Grischow who is being celebrated state-wide for her TRO ruling.
These state officials hate you and will use every variant for political and financial gain. There is SO much spin and falsehood in this announcement...it may well be remembered as what sealed Governor Pritzker's re-election. Let us pray!

While some of the most unhealthy in IL government attempt to rule over your healthcare and freedoms, too many of our healthiest in schools are still awaiting mask optional policies. The IL Teachers Union (IEA) is really angry to see children's faces unmasked. Keep up the civil pressure on your school boards and Superintendents. It's working!
Print out a copy of the TRO ruling from Friday and place a copy in your student's backpack. Tonight, Ryan Cunningham shared a form for parents to send to schools for legal documentation of your parent wishes.
On 2.6.22, Awake IL hosted a parent panel discussion led by Awake IL President Shannon Adcock, Awake IL VP Josh McBroom, and THE Emma Woodhouse on Twitter (Jessica) with guest appearance by THE Cattleman, Steve Lucie. A lot to react to from the last 48 hours but in the midst of chaos, it's quite simple. YOU are the parents. Period.
Step 1: Print a copy of the TRO ruling and put a copy in your student's backpack.
Step 2: Print and fill out this form to send to your student's principal and school administrators.
Step 3: Document ALL encounters and engagements. If your student ever feels threatened or uncomfortable, they should politely say that want to see the principal and call their parents.
