Parents are understandably stressed over the state of K-12 education and policies. The school closures of 2020-2021 combined with the harshest of U.S. school quarantine policies (currently in litigation) undeniably charted a rough course for current students. CBS reporter Jan Crawford cited the “crushing impact that our Covid polices have had on young kids and children” as one of the most underreported stories of 2021 on Face the Nation on Sunday:
Students who transfer into private schools are showing major lags in progress with some up to two years behind. One private school leader commented recently:
"High school students are especially despondent. They know they are behind and may never recover in time to pursue higher prospects. They don't participate in class and seem to have given up."
Given the state of teenage mental health and the worrisome suicide/self-harm reports, families are desperate for alternative schooling options.

Awake IL had a great meeting today with Pastor Randy and the team that will be launching faith-based schools throughout Chicagoland known as "G.R.A.C.E.". The original Channahon school gracefully adapted to their increase in student enrollment. A new kitchen was recently added and the facilities have catered to the students' needs throughout the last two years. They are walking in faith and it's so very inspiring.
