Shannon is the Founder and President of Awake Illinois. She and her husband of 18 years have three elementary and middle school children. As a Naperville resident, she has been actively involved as a PTA officer, a community fundraiser, and a small business owner. Her advocacy this past year included the reopen public schools effort, running for the local board of education, and being a staunch critic of racist curricula (CRT/culturally responsive teaching/equity). During the campaign experience, she was called a "White Supremacist" and a "racist" by local extremists for her pro-constitutional platform. However, she can take the punches and her advocacy was only further reinforced and fueled. In April 2021 she launched Awake IL as a registered 501(c) to build a grassroots movement of fellow parents and citizens who are committed to protecting our children, our liberties, and our American way of life.
Shannon's statement, "We are Awake IL and they can't cancel us" is beginning to echo at school board meetings and in communities throughout the state. Join the movement that is empowering people throughout the Land of Lincoln.
