Earlier this month, Awake Illinois donated a webpage to help families raise funds for the unprecedented lawsuit filed last week by Attorney Thomas DeVore:
Dozens of fundraisers were posted but we were only able to track 11 of them. The breakdown is below.
Arlington Heights D214 and D25: 40 donations ranging from $10 to $5300
Elgin U46: 66 donations ranging from $10 to $1000
Hinsdale D181 and D86: 43 donations ranging from $25 to $500
Indian Prairie School District 204: 38 donations ranging from $25 to $500
Lemont School Districts: 127 donations ranging from $15 to $ 500
Naperville D203: 4 donations ranging from $100 to $5300
Oswego: 180 donations ranging from $10 to $500
St. Charles: 27 donations ranging from $25 to $1000
Wheaton: 118 donations ranging from $25 to $1000
Donations were turned away once the $5k goal was met. People are still emailing asking if they can join the lawsuit and/or contribute.
643 citizens from 11 communities in Illinois supported the lawsuit efforts. This is just 11 of the 145 districts represented in this lawsuit. The majority of the donations are from people NOT named in the suit.
The IL citizenry has spoken and is counting down the days to the Nov. 5th hearing in Macoupin County Illinois.
If DeVmore wins this case, what are next steps, specifically, what do you advise schools in districts not represented in the lawsuit do?
